Alpha Spectra has manufactured over 150,000 detectors in becoming the world’s second largest producer of NaI(Tl) scintillation crystals. We are proud of the manner in which our staff has worked together in developing a technology-based company with world class expertise.

Alpha Spectra Inc. is the only American-owned company in the industry that has its own purification and growth processes. Our manufacturing process begins with exceptionally clean starting material. This material is processed using a growth technique that has been developed in-house. Our high-quality detectors are assembled utilizing techniques that have been developed with over 100 years of combined working experience.

Our History

1986
Alpha Spectra, Inc. founded.
1990
ASI begins scintillation detector repair.
1993
ASI moves to 20,000 sq.ft. facility in Grand Junction, Colorado
1996
ASI begins NaIT(l) crystal growth.
1998
ASI Collaborates on PET-SPECT System with CTI of Knoxville, TN. CTI is given the Image of the Year Award by the Society of Nuclear Medicine.
1999
ASI discontinues the Radon Lab.
2000
ASI begins manufacturing detectors for SAIC of San Diego, CA VACIS Program. ASI crystal growth capacity is Increased.
2000
ASI crystal growth capacity further increased.
2003
Entrepreneur of the Year Award is Given to ASI by the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce, the Western Colorado Business Development Corporation and the Mesa State College Center for Entrepreneurial Development. ASI forges its first ingot.
2003
ASI grows its first 32 inch ingot doubling its overall growth capacity. ASI has manufactured over 1000 different detector designs and shipped over 75,000 detectors worldwide.
